READING IS FUNDAMENTAL

 

All students in grades PK through five will receive a free book in January. RIF is a program sponsored by the Federal Government that allows children to choose and keep a free book 3 times during the year. The RIF idea is simple. If children are given the chance to choose and keep a books they like they will think of reading as fun and worthwhile.

 

Funding Factory is a nationwide recycling program that helps schools like ours earn free technology, sports, recreation, and playground equipment! The Funding Factory provides these valuable resources to our students in exchange for empty inkjet and laser cartridges and used cell phones!

This fundraiser allows our children to have access to special technology and sports equipment while contributing to a clean environment! More than 300 million cartridges are thrown away each year, while 30 million cell phones are discarded.

Collecting these items is a great service to the environment and a great way to earn needed funding for our school! Thirteenth and Union has participated in this program for three years and has raised over a thousand dollars in fundraising dollars for our students!!
