PRINCIPAL’S CORNER At this point, we are about six weeks into the new school year! Our first quarter is half over! The kindergarteners are more than twenty days smart. If you're able, please take advantage of the Red Card program at Target. Apply for a credit card and designate 13th and Union as your school and we will get a check from Target to support the school. The school also collects Campbell's soup labels, ink cartridges, cell phones and Box Tops for Education. If you buy any of those products, please send them into school. Thanks for your cooperation during the construction. Hopefully, most of the inconvenience is over. We are looking for volunteers for the Fall Festival. If you can help, send in a note to Mrs. Berry. Please keep your phone number up to date with the school! |

¡En estos momentos, ya han pasado seis meses del Nuevo Año Escolar! ¡Nuestro primer trimestre fue completado! Los estudiantes del Kindergarten son 20 días mas inteligentes. Si es posible tome la ventaja del Programa “Red Card Program” en Target. Llene la solicitud de la tarjeta de crédito y indique la Escuela 13 & Unión como la escuela que tendrá beneficios. La Escuela también está recogiendo las etiquetas de los productos Campbell, cartuchos de tinta para computadora, teléfonos celulares y tapas (Box Tops) para la educación. PTA NEWS Thank you to everyone who was able to make it to the PTA meeting on September 23rd, 2008. It was very exciting to meet new people. We shared some great ideas and are looking forward to trying some of them. Thank you to all of our new volunteers for their willingness to give of themselves - THANK YOU. We could use more help please let us know if you are interested in helping. Our next PTA meeting is October 21st at 7:00.
The first assembly sponsored by the PTA for the current school year was held on September 24th with musician Steve Courtney. Ask your children if they enjoyed this program. We are looking forward to two more assemblies for our children. The PTA Fundraiser is due back to your children's teacher on October 7th. Please send checks or money orders only, no cash, thank you. Fundraisers like this one pay for our assembly programs. Thank you for supporting the PTA fundraiser.
The School Store has a new manager, but she needs some help. The School Store is opening on October 14th and will be open every Tuesday from 8:00 - 8:30 A.M. If anyone would be available to volunteer for a half hour on a Tuesday morning please contact us.
The PTA is also in need for a Financial Secretary. This position requires knowledge of QuickBooks accounting software. The QuickBooks reports are submitted to the PTA's accountant. The amount of time involved is about 40 hours a school year. This is a great way for someone who would like to help, but can't get to the school during the day or enjoys working on a computer. If anyone is interested please call me at 610-376-1962.
Spirit Wear flyers will be coming home sometime in October, check your children's backpack. The T-shirts and shorts are acceptable for gym class and the polo shirts are acceptable as uniform shirts. The Spirit Wear sale is not a fundraiser the PTA sponsors the Spirit wear to promote school spirit.
