KINDERGARTEN AND PRE-K REGISTRATION: On March 1^st from 9-11:30 and 12:30-2:30, 16^th & Haak will be holding Kindergarten and Pre-K registration for 2006-2007.  Children who are 4 years old before August 31, 2006 and children who are 5 years old before August 31, 2006 are asked to register.  Please pass this information on to other families in your neighborhood who have young children.  Also, please stop by the office to pick up a registration packet 2 weeks prior to registration date.  This will save you some time on registration day.

ABSENCE: We are having a problem with excuses not being sent to school or not being handed in on time.  It is the parent’s responsibility to send an excuse each time your child is absent.  Please make sure your child hands in his/her excuse when they have been absent.  You can do this by checking your child’s book bag and/or calling the school if you have any questions about an absence.  Please be aware that if an excuse is not received in a timely manner you may receive a fine. 

SNOWY WEATHER: If you think that school may be closed or delayed in opening because of the morning snow or ice, please listen to the radio stations WEEU (830 AM), WRAW (1340 AM), WRFY (102.5 FM) OR TV CHANNEL 9 for school closing announcements.  Please do not call the school.  We have only two phone lines and we need to keep them open for emergencies.

DOORS OPEN AT 8:30:  Please do not send/bring students earlier than 8:30 AM unless they are part of the breakfast program because there is no one available to supervise them.  Also, keep in mind that if there is a school delay due to the weather there will be no breakfast program.

ATTENTION PARENTS:  In order to ensure security in our building, all visitors are asked to please come to the office for a visitor’s pass.

HOMEWORK:  Please help us by signing the homework planner or the 1^st grade folder/calendar everyday.  By doing this, you’re making sure that your child is completing all homework.  It is also a good idea to have children read at least 30 minutes a day.

PK & K PARENTS:  It is very important that your children come to school everyday.  Our building attendance is greatly affected if your children do not attend.  We really appreciate your help
