Accelerated Reader (AR) is a program that encourages students to read books for comprehension. The student takes the STAR (Standardized Testing for the Assessment of Reading) test, which gives a level at which the student will learn best. Then he or she is ready to begin reading!

 

There are 5 levels to the AR program and for each,  a student must score 80% or better on each quiz.

 

Independent Reader:

Read 3 books at a 1.2  or higher level, pass the quizzes accumulate 10 points.

 

Super Reader:

Have Independent Reader certification, read 3 books worth at least 1 point each, and pass the quizzes and accumulate 5 points total.

 

Advanced Reader:

Have Super Reader certification, read 3 books worth at least 2 points each, and pass the quizzes.

 

Star Reader:

 "5 and 5 club": read and pass the quizzes on three books worth 5  or more points at a 5.0 or higher reading level.

 

Honors Reader:

Read teacher selected books and accumulate 100 points.
