Outdoor Track
By: Virginia Lopez  and Zack Mauger, Staff Writers

The ancient Olympic games began in the year 776 B.C. when Koroibos, a cook from the nearby city of Elis, won the stadium race, which was 600 feet long. According to some literary traditions, this was the only athletic event for the first 13 Olympic festivals.
Other evidence, both literary and archaeological,   suggests the games may have existed at Olympia much    earlier than this date, perhaps as early as the ninth or tenth century B.C. A series of bronze tripods have been found at Olympia, some of which appear to be dated at about the ninth century BC, and it has also been suggested that these tripods may in fact be prizes for some of the early events at Olympia.
Reading High School Outdoor track is a sport that goes on during the spring season. They meet everyday at the red gym and practice at Exeter's track.
Melissa Leonor a senior at Reading High says, "This year we have really good players in our team, I really enjoy going to practice." Many others of the track team agree. Steve Le, also a senior and a pole-vaulter, says he hopes the team has a great season this year.

Spring into Track
By: Tara Smith, Staff Writer

There are high hopes for the Reading High School's 2006 spring track team. Coaches, Mr. Butler, Mr. Bolton, Mr. McIntosh, and Mr. Miller are pushing the team to its potential this year so it should be a great one.
Many of the students enjoy being in track each year     because it is fun and it's a chance to be with peers in a         competitive environment. RHS competes with different local teams every week.
Track has always been known to help students focus on their body structure, maintain fitness, and commit to the intense practices held every week. By becoming a committed player you can begin going to practice every week or contact one of the coaches for track.
