Dogs Visit RHS by: Beth Rogala, Sports Editor and Photographer
On May 4, 2006, Deb Greusel and her team of therapy dogs visited RHS. Deb Greusel is a special education teacher. She also has a program of special dogs that help those whom are elderly or disabled. Greusel invited Mrs. Mirenna and her morning class to see, and learn, more about the therapy dogs. Mirenna responds to the experience, "The kids really enjoyed themselves. The got to see how dogs can, and do, help others." Mirenna's class is a class of little kids, so you would expect them to be scared. According to Mirenna, the kids weren't afraid of the dogs like she thought. The kids were overwhelmed at the big size of a lot of the dogs, but they went right up to the dogs anyway and started to play with and pet them. This just goes to show that dogs can do and be more than just house pets.
