The Greatest Game Ever Played
by: Blair Fonté, Staff Writer

The Greatest Game Ever Played is a movie based on the true story of the 1913 US Open.  The US Open is a golf tournament held by the United States Golf Association (USGA).
The story starts out in England where young Harry Vardon, (James Paxton), was woken up by four black top-hatted men.  When Harry asked the men what they were doing, one man replied, "We are building a golf links".
The movie then goes to 1900's where Francis Ouimet (Shia LaBeouf), a caddie at a country club   located across the street from his house, learns from his idol, Harry Vardon, to play the game of golf.  Francis practices all day and night making his golf game better and better.  He then plays in the       amateur-qualifying tournament at the country club, only to lose.  Since this happens, in order to keep his word to his father Raymond (Jeremy Thibodeau), Francis had to give up the game of golf for good.
When Francis reaches the age of twenty, he is found working in a sporting goods store as a      maintenance worker.  One day he is interrupted by the president of the USGA and is asked to play in the US Open.  At first he remembers his word to his      father and rejects the proposal, but after he opens a box of clubs the day of the practice round for the Open, he changes his mind and finds the USGA president to tell him of his decision.
At the start of the US Open Francis was nervous and was playing bad.  That all changed when his  caddie, Eddie Lowery (Josh Flitter), gives him advice to just to take one shot at a time.  After the final round of the tournament there is a tie for first         between Francis, Mr. Vardon, and Ted Ray (Stephen Marcus.)  During the eighteen-hole playoff, Ray has a bad hole and is out of the running to win, leaving Francis to battle his boyhood idol.
   Overall, in the making of
The Greatest Game Ever Played, director Bill Paxton tries to send the message of never giving up on your dreams no matter how hard it seems and you never know what may come out of it.

Lil' Kim
by: Alan Baxter, Staff Writer

The quality of female rappers is at an all time high. Today's dressing room of femcees consists of either sexually explicated one hit wonders (Khia and Jackie O) or tomboys with more baritone than most of their male colleagues (Foxy Brown, Rah Digga, and Remy Ma.) So leave it to Lil' Kim to show these rap chicks how to get all up in them guts.
Inspired by her current legal woes, which will    result in a 366-day sentence in federal prison for perjury. The Brooklyn native pours all of her rage into
Naked Truth, and presents some of her best work since her classic debut, 1996's Hard Core.   Before heading up north, Kim has a few things to get off her silicone chest. Over the video game       infused drums of "Shut Up Chick", she finally fires back at the media, paparazzi, and gossip-mongers that have shot at her over the years.
"Lighters Up," inspired by Damian Marley, sees her paying homage to her Brooklyn home over Scott Storch's Caribbean mesh of electro congas and triangle kisses. While the Notorious                   B.I.G- sampling "All Good " shows that despite all the drama in her life, nobody can keep this hood chick down.

Cammarano Spotlight
by: Tara Smith, Staff Writer

Mrs. Debbie Cammarano is a Vice Principal here at Reading High School.  Her new office is now located in Room 354.  She has definitely earned her spot at RHS.  Mrs. Cammarano attended Kutztown          University majoring in psychology and received a principal certification from Penn State.  She has been at RHS for seven years and over at Reading-Muhlenberg Vo-Tech for one year as a counselor.
Although, Mrs. Cammarano was a quiet student here at RHS, she was involved in many activities/clubs. Some of these clubs were FBLA, homeroom secretary, homeroom officer, business major, prom committee. She participated in  GAA (Girls Athletic Association), and she played hockey, which           happened to be this school's  first girls athletic team.
Mrs. Cammarano's future plans for the new school year are to get to know more students on a good note, not just because they've done something wrong.
All in all, she wants to get familiar with her new job set, scheduling and grading, and do her best.

Right: Shia LaBeouf stars in the movie, The Greatest Game Ever Played,  as Francis Ouimet.  Here he is showing off his swing.

Right: Mrs. Cammarano hard at work.
