Hottest Cell Phones
by: Stephanie Jolivert, Staff Writer

The majority of Reading High students own a cell phone. Many of them have the newest phones out.  One of the popular phones that is out worldwide is the Boost mobile phone, which is owned by Nextel who now has joined with Sprint. Another cell phone that is popular is the new Razr from Cingular. The Razr is a flat phone, which has a     built-in camera.
And last but not least, is the sidekick 2, which is owned by T-mobile. This is an AOL instant messenger, text message and also a built in camera in one. The Side Kick 2 is owned by a lot of teens and celebrities. T-mobile is now about to come out with the new sidekick 3 which might be out     during December.
The most popular phone in Reading High School Right now is the boost mobile phone, which most people are using to chirp. The best time to get your Cingular and            T-mobile phones at a good price with a perfect plan is when school is opening and during the holidays. This is when the sales come in. For example, Cingular and Verizon have the back to school plan. So why not get a popular phone for a good price?

Holiday Traditions
by: Brytelle Walton, Staff Writer

Warm smells are coming from the kitchen and         decorations fill the window. It's time once again for the holiday season. But what about the rest of world, aren't there more than just turkeys and window lights that go  up during this time of seasonal joy?
Our community is filled with more than just your        average American family that trims the turkey on  Thanksgiving and the tree on Christmas.
People of Mexican descent are known for their             reenactment of Mary and Joseph's search for lodging. This goes on the nine days before Christmas called the
posadas, which means inns or lodgings. They then     feast, party and celebrate the birth of Christ.
In most homes, Christmas is the day where little        children run to the living to destroy wrapping and see what Santa Claus has brought them. But in Norway, Christmas is a day of slaughtering and feasting.          Every farm brings out their biggest cattle, slaughters the animal, and hands out meat to commoners within          the towns.
Americans have their own traditions too. Most families have special relatives home where everyone shares food and laughter for each specific holiday.
"My family spends each holiday at a different relatives home. My house is where we have Thanksgiving; we      eat and open gifts at my grandma's on Christmas, and spend New Years either at church or my aunt's. It's like that every year," says junior Darquin Walton on his    families holiday traditions
So whether you're somewhere halfway around the world or you're just spending time at your grandma's, spend your holidays the best way you can with your own         special holiday traditions.

DRILL COMPETITION
by: Stephanie Avila, Staff Writer

A Drill Competition for JROTC (Junior Reserve Officer Training Course) was held here at Reading High School Saturday October 22, 2005.  The Senior Military  Instructor is Captain Jimenez.
The Competition lasted from 9 am 'til about 3:30 pm.  Seven schools competed: Abraham Clark, NJ,         Dallastown, PA, Lynn English Massachusetts, Owen J   Roberts Pottstown, PA, Philadelphia Military Academy, Rahway, NJ, and of course Reading, PA.  Reading          High School. Reading High School won 4 trophies.        RHS' trophies were won for 1st place in New Cadet Basic Drill, 2nd place in Platoon Basic Un-Armed Drill (Females) and Unit-Trick Armed (Males), 3rd place in Un-Armed     Inspection (Females), and won 3rd place over all with a total of 4,437 points.
Reading faced some major competition from      Rahway, New Jersey and Lynn English, Massachusetts. "With only a few weeks of practice, frankly I think we       did pretty good," said Sergeant Major Wright (one of    RHS' JROTC Military instructors).
There wasn't anything won for Color Guard by    neither the females nor the males from Reading High. However, "With more practice there's a chance we can place in the next competition," said Master Sergeant Kelly (our other Military Instructor).  The students who           participate in the JROTC Drill Team work very hard all school year long, arriving at school at 6 am to practice and sometimes even coming to school on the weekends. Even though they tried very hard for this competition and are still working towards other competitions to come,             our MCJROTC cadets do get rewarded for it.
