At present time there are six art teachers at the high school. Each teacher offers a wide variety of interests, backgrounds and views about art in our world today.

 

Mr. Burkhart - Rm. 244 Mr. Burkhart has been at Reading High since 1998. He was previously Assistant Director of Outdoor Education for South Mountain YMCA. He spent four years in the USMC and attended Kutztown University. Mr. Burkhart is the Art Club Advisor and a European Exchange Chaperone. He is a member of the Arts Collaboration Committee at the Reading Public Museum and the Scholarship Committee at Reading High. Mr. Burkhart's preferred art media are oils and ceramics.

Ms. Carrazzo - Rm. 245 Ms. Carrozza has been with the Reading School District since 2000. She taught at Twelfth and Marion and Glenside Elementary schools for three years before moving to the High School. Ms. Carrozza attended Philadelphia University and Kutztown University where she received a bachelors degree in Fine Arts and Art Education. Ms. Carrozza's preferred art media are fibers and textile design.

 

Ms. Clewell - Rm. 243 Ms. Clewell has been with the Reading School District since 2001. Previous to teaching Ms. Clewell worked as a Visual Merchandise Manager. Ms. Clewell received a BA in Studio Art from Bucknell University and received her Art Education Certification from Kutztown University. She is on the consulting committee for the Mid Atlantic Arts Education Center, Kutztown University. Ms. Clewell's preferred art media are mixed media and computer art.

Mr. Englebach - Rm. 203 Mr. Englebach has taught in The Reading School District since 1987. He taught at Southwest , Northwest and Northeast Middle Schools before moving up to the High School in 2001. Mr. Englebach received his BS in Art Education from Kutztown University and his MA from Penn State. Mr. Englebach is also the Southwest Middle School Student Scheduler and an Advisor for the RHS GSA Club. Mr. Englebach's preferred art media are wood and glass.

 

Mrs. Kern - Rm. 232 Mrs. Kern came to RHS in 2003. She attended Kutztown University where she received her degree in Art Education. Mrs. Kern is also the advisor for the RHS Anime Club. Mrs. Kern's preferred art medium is calligraphy and ceramics.

Mr. Turner - Rm. 246 Mr. Turner has been with Reading High School since 2001. He has also taught in the Pottsgrove, and Governor Mifflin Districts. Mr. Turner spent time in the US Navy and attended RACC, York Academy of Arts, and Kutztown University. Mr. Turner's preferred art medium is printmaking.
