Pathway to Excellence

Welcome to the Reading School District!

The District proudly serves the diverse communities of the City of Reading, the fifth largest city in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Approximately 2,000 dedicated staff members serve the educational needs of more than 17,600 students. Enrollment levels are as follows: high school - 3,395; intermediate high school - 2,464; middle schools - 2,640; and elementary schools - 9,149.

Learning takes place in 19 different school buildings throughout the District, including 13 elementary schools (grades Pre-K–5), four middle schools (grades 6–7), one intermediate high school (grades 8–9), and one high school (10–12).

Each day, in every District building and in every District classroom, a vibrant learning community is striving for the success of every single student. Our mission is to transform student potential into reality. We invite your participation in and support of this most worthy goal.

Watch the Reading School District Shake It Off!

This song was "Taylor-made" for us! Visit our district YouTube channel to check out our new district video, which we made just for fun. After you're done dancing, please share the video and use the hashtag #RSDShakeItOff.

Special thanks to music teacher Charlie DiCarne, who suggested we make a district music video, and our Reading High School A/V tech, Kyle Brown, who helped record and piece together our staff, students, board members and superintendent dancing and singing along to"Shake It Off (© 2014)"

The song is perfect for Reading School District because we always encourage our Red Knights to shake it off and keep going. Plus, Taylor Swift is from Berks County just like us!
