    High-five for RHS student Juan Mato, who was among 20 students selected to participate in the high jump event at the Penn Relays later this month. He was also named to the Reading Eagle's Scholastic Honor Roll this week, and he jumped a personal-best 6-7 to win the high jump at the Pan-Ram Invitational at Central Dauphin on Saturday.     Kudos to 13th and Green Principal Kevin Collins - also known as MC K Smooth - for making a fun video to give students important PSSA reminders. The video is set to Drake's popular song, Hotline Bling. Visit our RSD Facebook page to watch it.

    Congratulations to the cast and crew of this year's RHS School Show -- A Knight on Broadway, which will hit the stage on Friday, April 20 and Saturday, April 21 at 7:30 p.m. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for students. The show will include songs from Motown, Hairspray and Sister Act, plus many more Broadway shows. Flip through the Playbill to see the full list of performances.

    Music to our ears
    Congratulations to our Castleairs Jazz Band, which participated in the inaugural Get JazzED High School Jazz Band Festival, part of the annual Boscov's Berks Jazz Fest. Reading won the Best Outstanding Trumpet section and Best Outstanding Rhythm section. In addition, student William Gonzalez won a solo award for drums and student Mike Smith won a solo award for bass.

    Title Wish Project

    As a part of its annual Title Wish project, the Berks County School Library Association is campaigning to help 10th and Penn Elementary and 10th and Green Elementary receive new books for their libraries. Donations will be accepted through April 20, 2018. If you would like to donate visit:
