    It gives us great pleasure to welcome you and your child. The beginning of the school year is always an exciting time, filled with new experiences, teachers and learning. Our staff has been busy this summer preparing for our incoming students. You can expect your child to receive a high-quality education in a safe, supportive and successful environment. First Day of School

  • First Day of School
    The first day of school is Thursday, September 5, 2019. Families will receive a separate phone call with information about which campus your student will attend – Reading High School, Red Knight Accelerated Academy-City Line (RKAA-City Line), Red Knight Accelerated Academy-Glenside (RKAA-Glenside), or Red Knight Accelerated Academy-(RKAA-Thomas Ford). 

    The first day of school schedule is below.  All students will attend a full day of school on Friday, September 6, 2019.


    First Day of School Schedule - Reading High

    12th Grade
    7:30 a.m. to 9:05 a.m.

    11th Grade
    9:10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.

    10th Grade
    10:50 a.m. to 12:25 p.m.

    9th Grade
    1:05 p.m. to 2:40 p.m.

    For 12th grade students
    Please report directly to homeroom on the first day of school. The complete homeroom list will be posted when it is available.

    For 11th, 10th and 9th grade students
    Plesae report to the RHS Auditorium on the first day of school. Mr. Turman will greet you and then announce your homeroom teacher, who will then escort you to your homeroom classroom.

    9th Grade and 9R
    9:40 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

    10R and 12R
    1:30 p.m. to 4:05 p.m.


    Note
    Morning and Afternoon RMCTC students will not attend RM-CTC on the first day of school. 

Student Schedules

  • Student schedules are now available on the Home Access Center, however, please note, they are subject to change at the start of the school year.  Students will also receive their schedules, locker assignments and complete necessary paperwork in homeroom on the 1st day of school.

  • Transportation

    Meals

    Breakfast and lunch will begin on Tuesday, August 28. Breakfast is served at 7 a.m. in the main cafeteria. To see the menus, visit www.ReadingSD.org/menus.

    Dress code expectations
    Proper dress will be required upon entering Reading High School. Our goal is to promote a more effective climate for learning and students’ dress must not disrupt the educational process, interfere with the maintenance of a positive teaching and learning climate or compromise reasonable standards of health and decency. This includes removing all hats.

    Book bags
    Students may use any type of book bag at RHS. They are not required to use mesh or drawstring cinch bags.

    Emergency Information
    Please provide accurate telephone numbers on all emergency cards.  If your phone number changes throughout the school year, contact the main office at 610-371-5705.

    • Reading High School operates on a six-day scheduling cycle

    • Each day of the cycle has a designated letter (A, B, C, D, E, F).
       
    • Thursday, September 5 and Friday, September 6 will both be considered DAY A.
       
    • Classes which meet less than six days per cycle will not be missed if school is closed the day class was scheduled.

      Example:  If school is closed on a Monday which is Day E, the next day the students return will be Day E.
