Scenarios During Remote Learning
-
If we have a weather-related delay, dismissal, or cancellation, we will try to make the decision and call as early as possible to allow you maximum time to make alternate plans for your child.
Due to remote learning, we have updated our Inclement Weather scenarios for the 2020-21 school year. These scenarios would apply to Remote Learning students, as well as those students enrolled in the Reading Virtual Academy.
SCENARIO #1: REGULAR SCHOOL DAY
Remote Learning will continue as normal.
SCENARIO #2: WORK-FROM-HOME DAY
Remote Learning will continue as normal, however, buildings will be closed and staff members (except for essential personnel) will work from home.
SCENARIO #3: EARLY DISMISSAL DAY
Remote Learning will be held in the morning and end at 12 p.m., and buildings will also close at 12 p.m. Staff members and teachers (except for essential personnel) would be released at 12 p.m. and would NOT work during the afternoon, however, students could use the time to catch up with asynchronous work or overdue assignments if they choose. Please note, while an early dismissal would most likely begin at 12 p.m., which is a natural break in our daily schedules, the time could be adjusted based on the timing of snowfall.
SCENARIO #4: DELAYED START (BUILDINGS ONLY) DAY
Remote Learning will continue as normal, however, buildings will open at 9 a.m., allowing additional travel time for those staff members (except for essential personnel) who are working on-site. Remote Learning/class start times would not be delayed.
SCENARIO #5: FULL SNOW DAY
Like a traditional snow day, the school district would be closed. Remote Learning would be canceled, and staff (except for essential personnel) would NOT work. Full Snow Days would have to be made up later in the school year.
IMPACT ON DISTRICT SERVICES
-
District services, such as appointments, enrollments and meal distribution, could be impacted by inclement weather. Staff will do their best to contact families and reschedule any appointments. If weather and/or closures would impact our scheduled meal distributions on a Monday, adjustments would be decided by the Food Services Department and announced by the school district.
