Superintendent of Reading School District
Dr. Jennifer Murray began serving as Superintendent of Schools for the Reading School District in November 2021. Previously, she served as the Interim Superintendent and as Assistant Superintendent, Teaching and Learning.
Dr. Murray’s career at Reading School District began in 1998 as a classroom teacher. In 2003, she became a reading coach before moving into administrative roles as an Instructional Supervisor at Northwest Area Elementary from 2003 to 2006, Principal for the Gateway School for the Performing Arts from June 2006 to January 2011, Director of Literacy from January 2011 to July 2012, and Principal at Millmont Elementary from July 2012 to August 2016.
“Ever since I joined the district as an elementary school teacher, I have had the good fortune to work with hundreds of dedicated educators and support staff members — who always put children first," she said.

I grew up in:
Bucks County, PA
Married for 25 years and has 3 children: Sarah, 24, flies the E2 Hawkeye for the Navy; Ellie, 22, a chemist for a large cosmetic company; and Rocco, 18, a freshman at Drexel, studying computer science
West Chester University, Bachelor’s Degree; Gwynedd Mercy College, Master’s Degree; and Immaculata University, Doctorate
Teacher Who Inspired Me:
Ms Garafolo, who used humor in her classes and built relationships that went beyond the classroom. She was one of those teachers you always went back to see years later.
My First Job:
At 14 years, I began working at an old ice cream shop, dishing soft-serve ice cream. I can still make the biggest cone!
Skill I would love to learn:
Speak fluent Italian
Time period I would visit in history:
The 1950s because I love the cars.

I love to do home improvements by myself. Tile, drywall, redo bathrooms -- I love all of it. (Thanks, YouTube!)
