Programs
Cultural Responsiveness
Central office administrators, principals, and certified staff are engaged in professional learning experiences focused on identity safety and belonging. Cultural competence workshops are offered to all staff. New teachers and administrators are provided an introductory session to deepen their understanding of our student body during their induction week.
School Culture Teams
The District has facilitation teams to implement identity safety and culturally responsive teaching in all the District’s 19 schools. Teams typically consist of the principal and/or assistant principal, parent outreach assistants, and teacher leaders.
Family Engagement
The District has full-time Parent Outreach Assistants assigned to each school. These are bilingual/bicultural paraprofessionals who know the community, the families, and how the educational system works. They help connect families with resources/organizations in the community. Parent engagement is also promoted by specialized programming such as Opening Doors (available for Pre-K and K parents).
