This will be a very special and memorable experience for our students. Northeast Middle School was victorious in two categories of the SWAG Design contest...special "shout out" to Mellicent and Miss Gina for their award winning contributions! Woohoo, NEMS! 👏🏻 La Escuela Secundaria Northeast tuvo una gran representación en la Conferencia sobre Salud Mental de este año, celebrada en el DoubleTree de Reading. A belated "shout out"...but still a "shout out" that is well-deserved...goes to Ms. Sherlene Evans and Nativity Lutheran Church and also to our NEMS school counselors for all their hard work in organizing and delivering Easter meals and food baskets to local families! The donated items helped feed over 100 people. Thank you to everyone who volunteered and/or contributed. Your hard work and love for our community did not go unnoticed! Un "reconocimiento" tardio...pero, aún así muy merecido... para la Sra. Sherlene Evans y la Iglesia Luterana Nativity, así como para nuestros orientadores escolares de NEMS, por todo su esfuerzo en la organización y entrega de comidas de Pascua y cestas de alimentos a las familias locales. Los productos donados permitieron alimentar a más de 100 personas. Ms. Sciumbata's 5th Grade students attempted another "escape room" in Social Studies class on Friday! 🙀 This time around, her students were "Water Rescue Explorers" attempting to save Sub-Saharan Africa from the water crisis in the Lake Chad region. Ms. Sciumbata had so many groups successfully complete the challenge and escape! 👏🏻 Check out the posted images to see the kids at work and who the top winners were. Well done, kids! 🏆 ¡Los alumnos de 5.º curso de la Sra. Sciumbata se enfrentaron a otra «sala de escape» en la clase de Ciencias Sociales el viernes! 🙀 En esta ocasión, sus alumnos se convirtieron en «Exploradores de rescate acuático» que intentaban salvar al África subsahariana de la crisis hídrica en la región del lago Chad. ¡La Sra. Hello to all 8th-grade families! Please take a look at the attached information about the Reading Muhlenberg Career Technology Center’s career summer camp! If your son or daughter is interested, the QR code on the brochure will take you directly to the registration form :) The camp will be held from Monday, June 8, to Friday, June 12 (the first week after school ends), from approximately 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The camp is free for students from the Reading and Muhlenberg school districts. Transportation is provided. Breakfast, a snack, and lunch will be served. The following programs will be offered this summer: • Building Maintenance • Painting and Interior Design • Baking and Pastry Arts • Culinary Arts • Welding • Electrical Technology • Horticulture • Sewing and Clothing Design • Print Media Production • Computer-Aided Drafting Technology

"Amazing" doesn't even begin to describe the members of our NEMS Youth Volunteer Corps!?! Keep reading to see why... Our YVC students, under the guidance of Ms. Bethany Bower, planned, organized, and hosted a food drive for our families in the NE Quadrant. Twenty families benefited from the club's efforts this past Wednesday night when the students helped with food distribution. Job well done, kids! PS: YVC would also like to "THANK" all the staff members who contributed food items to help make this drive so successful! ¡La palabra «increíble» se queda corta para describir a los miembros de nuestro Cuerpo de Voluntarios Juveniles de NEMS! Sigue leyendo para descubrir por qué... Nuestros alumnos del YVC, bajo la dirección de la Sra. Bethany Bower, planificaron, organizaron y llevaron a cabo una recogida de alimentos para nuestras familias del Cuadrante NE. Over three dozen Orchestra students from across all five RSD middle schools participated in the March 14th Berks County (BECO) Six Grade String Festival. Nearly 150 students from throughout Berks County filled the stage at Wilson West Middle School at the event, as they gathered to perform four exciting selections. The concert was opened by our very own Mr. Sanguinito, conducting "Exhilaration" composed by Cooper Ford. All of our Reading students represented us well and made us very #RSDProud! Más de tres docenas de alumnos de orquesta de las cinco escuelas secundarias del RSD participaron en el Festival de Cuerdas de Sexto Grado del Condado de Berks (BECO), celebrado el 14 de marzo. Cerca de 150 alumnos de todo el condado de Berks llenaron el escenario de la Escuela Secundaria Wilson West durante el evento, donde se reunieron para interpretar cuatro emocionantes piezas. Ms. Sciumbata's students went on a virtual field trip to the Sahara Desert this week. The students had to record their observations about landscape, vegetation, and water. How cool is that?!? 🧳 Los alumnos de la Sra. Sciumbata realizaron esta semana una excursión virtual al desierto del Sáhara. Los alumnos tuvieron que anotar sus observaciones sobre el paisaje, la vegetación y el agua. ¡¿A que mola?! 🧳

A big "shout out" to Marissa from the Northeast Branch of the Reading Public Library...Marissa visited Mrs. Breidenstine's 6th Grade Science Classes and instructed the kids on how to make a circuit. Such a cool hands on activity! Un gran saludo a Marissa, de la sucursal noreste de la Biblioteca Pública de Reading... Marissa visitó las clases de ciencias de 6.º grado de la Sra.
