Colibrí: Pintando los Sueños de Nuestra Niñez
Hummingbird: Painting the Dreams of Our Children 🎨
Students from Tyson Schoener Elementary School and Escuela Hojancha in Costa Rica came together through a meaningful art exchange rooted in creativity, culture, and connection.
Inspired by the hummingbird—a symbol of migration between the two regions—students collaborated to design a mural that reflects both communities. Guided by art teacher Mrs, Schnore, students in Reading painted key elements before the mural traveled to Costa Rica.

There, artists Michael L. Miller, Gregory Didyoung and Nicholas Kiedeisch, worked alongside students in Hojancha during a three-day installation, bringing the mural fully to life. Throughout the process, students in Reading were able to follow along and stay connected virtually. The project became more than a mural—it became a shared experience and a lasting connection.
